New Post: Release Notes on download page do not apply to downloadable release

All of the fixes listed on the download page for LiveUpload to Facebook v3 are included in the latest download. The only "Fix" that's marked later than the release date is "Some photos get uploaded smaller than the Facebook max dimension of 604" which was a bug in the Windows 7 betas, but was fixed in Win7 RTM. I didn't make any code changes to fix this bug, it was related to the OS resizing logic.

Are you having a specific problem with LiveUpload to Facebook?

The download page (http://liveuploadfacebook.codeplex.com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=31236 - linked from the start page for the project) lists fixed work items all the way up to Oct 1. The release on that page is from Aug. Extremly frustrating to see problems called out as fixed on the page I got the bits from. Frustrating and it looks bad. A user who isn't a coder wouldn't think to check and couldn't use the fixes anyway. Especially bad since that release is the first thing you find when you click the link to find plugins in Photo Gallery.

Oh, never mind. Just realized that the issues are marked fixed even though code isn't checked in.

Should be: "Release notes on download page do not apply to downloadable release or to source code."

The plugin works great with the only exception that when I try to upload photos it never uploads all of the selected photos. It tells me that it was unable to upload about 40% of the pictures. I then have to go view the photos that did upload and then go uncheck the photos that made it and attempt to upload again. This time it may or may not upload all of them. I have to repeat this process until all the photos I want uploaded are uploaded.

I would like a button to retry photos that failed after it notifies me that the photos didn't upload.

New Post: Getting "An unknown error occurred" during upload

I am getting an error trying to upload some of my images. I selected 43 pictures, but only 23 were uploaded. The rest I see this message:

Uploading "imagename.jpg"...Failed with the following error: "An unknown error occurred"

Any idea why I am getting this error? The images open fine in Windows Vista.

If I retry the upload, I get errors with a different set of pictures so it seems random.

I have a Verizon FIOS so I don't think it's my Internet connection and the images upload fast.

A tech friend and I spent hours trouble shooting this problem, to no avail. He has been using the tool for a long time, but using his computer and MY account he had the same problem. When he tried opening a new facebook account, the tool also failed. Perhaps Facebook changed something recently, making the tool fail?

I have just set up my notebook with a clean installation of Windows 7 Home Premium (x32). Installation of Windows Live Photo Gallery proceeded without issue and the program appears to be running normally. I downloaded and installed Live Upload to Facebook 3, which also appeared to install without problems. However, every time I try to use it I get an error message (0x80131018). The message says it is 'something went wrong and we're not sure what'!

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the plugin and the Live Photo Gallery, but no joy as yet.

1. I have my facebook account a few days

2. I have created a new album with the liveupload-tool and directly on the facebook pages

3. I have uploaded photos to my account

What's wrong?

despite having downloaded everything from .net framework 1.1 to 4 my liveupload to facebook publishing button on Windows Live photo gallery still prompts the error message 'requires .net framework 2.0 or higher? Please help it's very frustrating, have I not installed the framework correctly (I have added service packs and security updates?) or am I missing something important?

Roughly how long have you had your Facebook account?
Have you ever created a new album, through Facebook.com, with your account? (Probably yes...)
Have you ever uploaded a profile photo to your Facebook account?

I am having a problem where the uploader only offers up creation of a new album on Facebook when selecting to upload. What's odd is that another user on the same computer does not exhibit this problem. I have tried removing and reinstalling Live uploader as well as deleting the FB account and recreating it. Still no change - always getting offered to create a new album. Any help here would be appreciated.

Oops, just saw that this was all figured out already in the issue tracker. The patch mentioned there is pretty much what I did. Also looks like RTM fixes it for good. Cool!

I am also getting this on my Win7 RC, and I have a debugger :)

It does indeed look like a bug in WLPG, or a called library. I only debugged the plug-in code itself, and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong. What I've noticed is that if the image's size is < MaxWidth/Height, the max actually used is 256. The "solution" is to use a large value for MaxWidth/Height. Modifying ConfigurationSettings.Publish to set those values to the max of all the images' dimensions results in correct display on Facebook, but obviously slows down the upload.

It's probably safe to assume that this'll be fixed for RTM (or the next version of WLPG, depending on where the bug actually is), so I dunno if it's worth trying to change anything in the current plug-in version.

I'm a bit bummed that plug-ins don't have more direct access to the images themselves in the plug-in API. The whole xml interface is bizarre, too. Oh, well. It's still a heck of a lot better than using Facebook's tool, which doesn't even recognize network paths, and otherwise I'm extremely pleased with this project. Bravo.

Here is the error:

"The following error occurred in System.Xml:

Root element is missing.(0x80131940)"

It gets about three pictures and then the error pops up.

Same error is happening on a friends computer. We both have different OS's installed. I have windows 7 and the other is WIndows XP.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank You.

I found that if I use windows vista in a virtual machine that it works....

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the feedback. Unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce this issue on my VM running Win7 so I can't tell exactly whats causing it. I'm talking to the Windows Live Photo Gallery developers and hope to figure this out soon because it seems like it might be a bug in Photo Gallery's automatic resizing. I'll keep you updated on any fixes.

Hi,

When images are getting uploaded to facebook, the location coordinates are getting jumbled. I have my images tagged in my windows live gallery. When uploaded to facebook, it has the tag name but the location of the tag is right at the top left. Not at the face.

Also, see if you can put album description after album title. That would be very useful.

Please fix this soon. I like this plugin but I want it to work fine.
